In-Person Steam Learning
Face-to-face in any place
The importance of hands-on play and experimentation in education canât be overstated, particularly when accompanied by friendly, expert educators. But those opportunities and support can be hard to find in rural, remote and Indigenous communities.
Ampere is working to overcome this obstacle, partnering with communities from the Arctic Circle to the Kawartha Lakes, and learners from British Columbia to Newfoundland, to share the power and potential of STEAM.
Classes, Camps, Activities and More
At a Makerspace:
Makerspaces are a little artistâs studio, a little tech lab, and a LOT of fun. Theyâre community hubs where all sorts of activities happen that are designed to bring learning to life through STEAM Creator Camps, After School Programs, Special Classes and Programs and Weekend Drop-ins.
Explore whatâs happening at Ampere Makerspaces in your community:

In Your Community
STEAM School
STEAM School creates opportunities for grade 4-6 students in the Kawartha Lakes to dive deeper into science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) education, exploring their passions, preparing them for our STEAM-powered world.
Founded and administered by Ampere, STEAM School lets students explore real-world challenges while developing and applying critical thinking skills. Located in Lindsay, Ontario, STEAM School gives youth the chance to dive deeper into STEAM subjects, with guest speakers and the latest learning technology.

In Your Community
Customized, co-designed, culturally-relevant STEAM Learning
Explore technology. Learn about online safety. Build digital skills for an increasingly STEAM-powered world. Ampere – working with community partners and social organizations – offers a wide variety of STEAM learning experiences that are customized and co-designed to meet learner expectations and to be culturally-relevant.
But thereâs a twist – the actual learning experience isnât the most important thing – the most important thing is our âtrain the trainerâ approach that ensures subsequent learning and discovery can take place whether weâre there or not. Weâre dedicated to supporting the development of community-based STEAM education skills, so your community can continue to build knowledge, whether weâre there or not.
